Pregnant Again Six Months After C-Section

Q: I have had 3 c-sections, the last one was 6 months ago. I have just found
out I am 11 weeks pregnant. I cannot abort the baby, as I do not believe in
abortions. Is there anything you can help me with, as I am very scared that
it’s too soon after the last c-section to have one again. Please help.

A: Since abortion is not an option as you say, your best option under the
circumstances is to nourish yourself in every way. Optimal nutrition is
essential, and also listening to your body’s rhythms and energy levels,
resting as necessary. With a baby and other children at home, you need a
supportive team of family, friends and caregivers at hand. Emotional support
is also part of your nourishment. Combined, this will promote optimal
healing from your previous cesarean while at the same time nourishing your
growing baby. Protein, healthy fats/omega 3’s, and a balance of complex
carbohydrates is an ideal diet. Watch out for empty calories, snack foods,
sugars and white flour as they may grow a bigger baby causing more strain on
your uterus. Although another cesarean so soon is not an ideal situation,
vaginal birth also presents risks so soon after your third cesarean. Get all
the support you need and surround yourself as best you can with abundance
and nourishment. Life often presents us with situations like this that are
less than ideal and living with fear will only deplete you from optimizing
the situation to your best ability. Motherhood is an intensely spiritual
experience, mediated through hormones and emotions. Breathe deeply and stay
open to the path you have chosen for this pregnancy.
