Maizie’s Birth: “I never felt so good in my life”

After a traumatic hospital birth with my trusted obgyn practice of ten years, when I found myself pregnant again, I knew I wanted to do things differently.

My girfriend happend to be a doula and suggested I see “BOBB,” and then everything changed. I decided to give birth in a hospital with a midwife. There was one major problem, my insurance wouldn’t cover midwife care. Reluctantly, I decided to try for a home birth with a midwife willing to work with me and with what I could afford. I must have contacted twenty midwives and one who was just starting a home business decided to take me on. Skeptical at first, she won me over and changed me and my life forever.

Maizie was born 7/23/2008. That day will remain one of the best days of my life. Everything went pretty quick and there was a lot pain, even more than I could have imagined, but the unbearable part only lasted maybe two hours, at the end of the pain, there was celebration and an incredible high that was taken away from me at my hospital birth. I never felt so good in my life. When i think about it, I still feel so good to have done it and come out on the other side. My midwife was amazing and strong and led me to my strength. I will forever tell all the women I know to consider birthing at home nothing in my life will compare to that experience.
