After 41 hours of unmedicated labor….

Baby’s Birth Date: 7/31/07
Birth Story: After 41 hours of unmedicated labor I gave birth to little C.S. Lowe.
It was, by far, the longest two days of my life but I would not change a thing. I trained hard and long to bring my son into the world the way mother nature had intended. I knew it would be painful and exhausting (never would have guessed 41 hours of exhausting) but I knew I could do it and that birth was the very thing I was designed for…
When the nurses (yes, I had an amazing birth experience in a hospital) told me it was time to push I was fully aware and ready. The baby was born within 20 minutes. But nothing in life could have prepared me for that moment when they placed my naked son on my chest and guided him to my breast.
Labor was the single most amazing thing I have ever experienced.
And I especially want to thank my doula Hillary (told you I’d be the longest birth you ever attended!), my wonderful coach/husband/partner and my mother (for whom I have an entirely new respect for). My birth team rocked and while I alone may have experienced each contraction - it was a team effort and I couldn’t have done it without you.
