Getting The Word Out!
I am very proud of the public response in NY to The Business of Being Born. As a homebirth midwife and the owner of www.YourWaterBirth.com - I have seen first hand the positive outcomes of critical productions like this DVD. Birthing women and their families deserve to hear the whole story so they can make decisions that are best for them and their babies.
10 years ago waterbirth was barely making a splash. We used what ever we could find that would hold enough water (and not too much water) for a woman to labor and birth in. Horse troughs were one interesting option.
Now we have several wonderful pools to choose from and, more importantly, we have thousands of midwives and a nice handful of doctors who have joined the waterbirth pioneers in attending women in truly gentle birthing.
Hats off to Ricki Lake and Abby Epstein and to all those who contributed to this DVD.
Spread the word. Tell your stories. People are starting to listen.
