Midwife Q & A
Q: How soon before I get pregnant should I consult with a midwife for care?
I want to deliver at home, but I live in an apartment. What are my options if I want to have a similar experience as if at home but (for obvious reasons) have to have it elsewhere? Thank you for your response!
A: First question: You can consult with a Certified Professional Midwife before you are pregnant for ongoing well-woman care. A typical well-woman visit includes a Pap smear and breast exam as well as a simple physical and any blood work that you may need. If you establish this relationship before you are pregnant, when you do get pregnant, you will have a trusted practitioner to turn to.
Second question: There’s no place like home.
