About Tina Cassidy
Tina Cassidy is the author of the internationally acclaimed book Birth: The Surprising History of How We Are Born, a global cultural history, published in 2006 by Atlantic Monthly Press. Tina is an award-winning veteran journalist who has written about everything from sports to presidential politics to international fashion. Her experience giving birth for the first time (by unexpected c-section) 4 years ago inspired her to write the book to give context to modern childbirth and she continues to write about birth related trends today. Last year, she gave birth at home to another son. A graduate of Northeastern University, Tina spent most of her journalism career at the Boston Globe as a staff reporter and editor. Her work has also appeared in the The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, Boston magazine, and many British newspapers. She lives in Boston with her husband (also a former journalist and author) and their two sons.
